Abstract:Pursuing breakthrough innovations as a part of the company's business strategy has become increasingly in common due to e.g. growing service economy. This article aims to examine the role of teamwork in innovation creation. A conceptual framework is developed that describes the relationships between different kinds of innovation teams and the characteristics of the next generation innovators. Teams in the framework vary from highly structured to spontaneous teams. In addition, a case study is presented to illustrate the use of preference profiling in innovation creation and how it can result in tangible benefits from an innovation team.
