Abstract:In this study the authors research the choice of market entry strategy on family firms when they are in the situation of internationalisation. The authors study this topic through case studies on family firms located in the province of Alicante (Spain), which is one of the most internationalised sectors in the region. The findings indicate that the set of firms studied follow the propositions given by the Uppsala model, in addition factors such as the age, size and generation of the family has a major influence in the establishment of international, strategic alliances.
