Abstract:The author of this article offers a beginner's guide and states that it's always a good idea to have some money set aside for that seemingly omnipresent rainy day. In the beginning the author answers the question why it is important to save and provides a brief guide to the savings accounts. The author divides it into following parts: 1) Instant access accounts; 2) Notice accounts; 3) Cash ISAs; 4) Regular savings accounts; 5) National Savings account; 6) The stock market 7) ISAs. Then the author states that to give one an idea of how much to save where, one should look at his or her personal savings as a pyramid. Across the base should be one's safe, secure cash, and at the apex - one's risky investment.
