Abstract:The subjects of the paper are insurance companies in Great Britain and the consequences of the terrorist attacks, 2001. The author of the paper focuses on the impact of terrorist attack on the insurance industry in Great Britain. The paper pays attention to the decrease of capital assets on market equities of insurers and considers the imbalance of premiums and claims on marine and aviation insurance. The paper also considers the topic of withdrawal of clients on insurance companies. The author states that 2001 was a catastrophic year for the insurance companies and industry and it will be a long time yet before the final bill for 11 September is calculated. So the author answers the question whether does the future hold for the beleaguered sector.
