| Abstract: | The article utilizes the critical social theory on embodiment to examine tourist performance through a study of their listening habits. A study of classical musical festival in Australia is employed to argue the importance of listening studies for tourism research. The article first presents the conceptual and methodological implications and then discusses how musical festival participants listened provides insights to how they pictured themselves in and through place and time. |
