Abstract: | The subject matter of the present empirical investigation is the effect of work experience, age and years-since immigration on the earnings of native-born and foreign-born Canadian men, and the role that these effects play in accounting for immigrant and non-immigrant earnings differentials. The paper also examines the robustness of these earnings effects and earnings differentials to inclusion of an extensive set of control variables and to adjustment for possible sample selection bias. The major substantive findings are those pertaining to the effects of age and work experience on the earnings of native-born and foreign-born workers. |
