Abstract:A realistic scenario can be derived from an analysis of what is being done by Hong Kong, China, Japan and Taiwan. Hong Kong has moved towards integration of its economy with China, it is trying to establish itself as the gateway to and from China. A recent survey showed that most foreign investors expect the general business environment of Hong Kong will deteriorate as a result of increasing Chinese political and economic intervention. For the future, some part of Hogh Kong's international marketing efforts need to focus on value-adding to Chinese products. Foreign direct investment from developed countries for modernization should be encouraged; it is important that the region should be regarded as a great opportunity.
