Abstract: | Providing quality service, ensuring safety and maintaining reasonable rates for customers - these are three common goals for any utility company. Canadian Utilities Limited has found that its new Computer-Aided Dispatch system makes a considerable contribution to the realization of these corporate objectives. The company's existing manual appointment making, scheduling and dispatching systems and procedures were inefficient and outdated, and could not provide the excellence in customer service that the company strives for. The purchased solution was a turnkey system consisting of fixed mobile terminals combined with dispatching and radio communication software. The benefits of the new system are discussed. |
