Abstract: | The decision to improve quality in an organization creates significant changes within the R&D group and the manner in which it functions. Too often, R&D is the last function to be involved in the quality process. Even after start-up, the difficulty of monitoring and measuring results becomes apparent. How does one maintain the effort? According to the author, quality management can be successfully implemented within an R&D environment through a formal planning process, an assessment of education and training needs, an emphasis on continuous improvement, and establishing a relationship between the R&D quality process and the corporate quality process. |
