Abstract:Coming out of its slump and straits, the export trade of Hongkong began to resuscitate in 1991. Altough the increase fluctuated and was unstable, the total increase in volume was about one per cent. Especially notable were its exports to the Mainland, which reached 166.475 billion HongKong dollars by October, surpassing the sum total of the three big markets of Germany, England and Japan. Meanwhile, it was the third year in succession that exports to the United States continued to decrease, the rate of decrease being eight per cent. It is estimated that its exports to the Asian Pacific countries will have a bigger rate of increase, about three per cent.
