| Abstract: | With the ever-increasing reduction in traditional barriers to trade in goods, the focus of recent negotiations on trade liberalization has extended to other areas. One area of increasing concern has been the perceived necessity to impose controls on trade-related investment measures (TRIMS). The provisions described in the article will have a direct impact on freer trade in energy and natural resources by allowing for the more equitable treatment of multinational enterprises operating or planning to operate in host countries. |
