| Abstract: | The central motif of Belyi's novel is that of a bomb-man with a conscience that is ready to blow away his head. This is a direct parallel with the motif of time bombs and exploding human bodies frequently occurring in the cinema of the first decade of the century.Another cinematographic motif, that of open space and flight to space can also be traced in several episodes of "Peterburg". |
