| Abstract: | One of the main purposes of the theory of music is to explain the link between the recent and the early past of the musical art. Its forms are essentially independent of the epoch in which a musical piece is written. The epoch only determines the extent of exploration of a musical form. This is illustrated by the analysis of Bach's polyphony. |
