Abstract:Problems in international transactions appear with international payments and capital investments aboard.A number of risks are involved, the two most important are the currency risk and the country risk. The currency risk is simply a threat that an exchange rate might change from the time of investment to the time of return of capital. On capital markets this risk simply cannot be avoided but it can be insured against. To this aim international companies use special protective measures, i.e. parallel credits, futures and currency swap transactions. The country risk consists of a vatiety of risks which are the result of certain political, social and economic factors. If we look at the economic factors we see that a country risk maybe materialized by countries being unable to repay their debt, by countries having to reprogram their debts or temporarily impose a moratorium on their repayments.
