| Abstract: | The article defines two basic strands in contemporary economic theory regarding policy activism.On the one hand New Classical Macroeconomics, based on the assumptions of continuous market clearing and rational expectations, denies the efficacy of economic policy; on the other hand post Keynesian school of economics supports active policy measures to attain stable growth at full employment.The author finds post Keynesian theory to be more consistent with reality and considers it to provide a theoretical framework for the analysis of the Slovenian economy. |
