Whether you have planning help or not, whether you follow a traditional management structure (first line supervisors with subordinates) or whether you follow a new structure (first line supervisor as a facilitator of a self-directed work team), your time is almost always at the mercy of others. Far too often, first line maintenance supervisors victimize themselves into thinking that they are out of control because there is nothing they can do to regain control.
