Abstract:In the 1980's, the success rate of acquisitions was lower than desired. Paralleling this is a growing recognition that acquisitions are complex deals which demand that considerable attention is given to integrating the combined firms. In the 1990's, the complexity of the business environment is not expected to diminish and the question of how best to manage acquisitions remains of great interest. This article addresses the important yet neglected, issue of information technology in acquisitions.
