| Abstract: | The deregulatory 1980s exhibits a dramatic increase in outward foreign direct investment (FDI) from a number of small countries outside the EC. Few studies have analyzed home country effects of outward foreign direct investment. in this empirically based article, we study changes in production patterns as expressed by domestic value added contributions of the core manufacturing companies in four Nordic countries. When it comes to knowledge intensity among the Nordic outsider countries, Swedish manufacturing core companies experienced a noticeable decreases between 1982 and 1992, whereas the Norwegian core companies exhibited a moderate decrease and the Finnish displayed no change. For the insider country - Denmark - knowledge intensity of the core companies increased slightly. |
