| Abstract: | Just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing methods can be implemented successfully only when the program is supported by intensive planning and control systems. This article presents a case study describing the type and nature of planning used by Fuji Electric, a large Japanese manufacturer. The presentation also discusses some little known facts about the methods used by the Japanese to rate and control suppliers. |
