| Abstract: | This article discusses an expert system, the rack selector advisor, designed to guide a distribution manager through the decision making process of selecting which types of racks are most suitable. This expert system is developed specifically for the warehousing needs of the consumer products industry. Such an expert system can increase the effectiveness and capability of problem solving and/or decision making regarding distribution center space utilization and accurate rack selection, which can result in improved customer service and increased profitability. |
