Abstract:Many hazardous products are packed in small containers. Because of the limited amount of space for warnings and other information, manufacturers reduce the size and amount of printed material on the labels. This impairs the message's legibility, noticeability and comprehensibility. In an experiment (a small container of glue), two alternative designs were compared with a conventional design for their effect on behavioural compliance with a warning. It is shown that the tag design produced significantly greater compliance than the others.
