| Abstract: | This paper discusses radical organizational and functional changes which will evolve as a consequence of implementing simultaneous engineering within the manufacturing environment. This new way of thinking is illustrated by a discussion of how the process and production planning functions may interact with each other. The shortcomings of the current process and production planning practice will be addressed together with an identification of possible functional areas of integration. Finally, some solutions to the integration issue will be presented. |
