Abstract:Women managers have been called the last international competitive advantage of the United States. Female students make up over half the enrollments of U.S. undergraduate business schools - with as strong an interest in potential international careers as male students. This study finds, however, that women are rarely portrayed as managers in international business cases. The lack of role models in international business cases is compared with the role of international women managers in a select sample of U.S. corporations. The results of the two surveys demonstrated that there were over six times the amount of women mangers in the international divisions of these U.S. corporations, proportionally, as were presented in business school cases.
