Abstract:Client/server computing is the third wave of corporate computing. First, there was batch computing which was followed by the emergence of on-line computing. Now, all the information and computing resources of an organization can be on-line, using the client/server computing model. Client/server computing has evolved to meet the varied and increasing needs of the users. These users want a dedicated processor (the client), shared data and resources (the servers), and transparent communications (the network).
