| Abstract: | From 1978 to the first half of 1995, the savings deposits of the Chinese residents increased 126 times. They exceeded 1000 billion yuan for the first time in 1992 and are expected to top 3000 billion in 1995, making up 49% of the GNP. The high savings under the condition of high inflation in recent years are contributed to the Chinese tradition of being thrifty. A high saving ratio accounts for the sustained and speedy growth of the national economy. |
