Abstract:Why have some companies been so successful at transforming themselves, while others have failed to adapt? S. Ghoshal, currently professor of strategic leadership at London Business School, and C. Barlett of Harvard Business School have recently carried out of study of 20 companies in Europe, Japan, and the USA. Their research suggests that companies which have succeeded in renewing themselves share a perception that their real challenge lies not in revamping strategies, structure or systems, but in changing individual employers' behaviour.
