| Abstract: | The paper provides an assessment of the Slovenian external debt position, its relationship with the three groups of foreign creditors, and its country risk position. ln the first part, the paper discusses trends in the volume and changes in the structure of Slovenia's external debt over the last three years.The second part gives an analysis of the relationship between Slovenia as a debtor and the three groups of foreign creditors.By now , Slovenia has completely regulated its external debt obligations vis-a-vis multilateral financial institutions.The country also reached agreements in principal with the Paris Club in mid-1993, and more recently, in June 1995 with the consortium of commercial bank creditors.A well advanced process of normalisation of its relationship with foreign creditors, together with stabilisation of economic and political conditions in the country, has resulted in a significantly improved country risk of the Republic of Slovenia.An analysis of Slovenia's country risk position is the subject of the third part of the paper. |
