Abstract:The paper presents working methods applied by consultancy firm from Great Britain, mainly dealing with organisational efficiency problems. The clue is to activate the hidden innovation possibilities and capabilities of the operational management structure and associates, and in creating special working atmosphere for gradual transfer into the new organisational culture of the company. The purpose is therefore very close to the hidden purpose of the ISO 9000 and may therefore be achieved either connected with the efforts to attain the ISO 9000 certificate or independently. This paper was prepared on the basis of an example made in one of the medium sized Slovene companies. The lower and the middle management applied the programmed creative cooperation and in no more than seven months the result was obvious: savings in the production process were assessed to reach 750.000.00 DEM as a consequence of cutting the excessive production hours required for the fabrication of the product and cutting the number of manual workers. The possibility for the rationalisation of the working process outside the production process further infuenced the improvements in quality of the business making of the entire company. It turned out that the substantial savings were not the only benefits of the applied method.Substantial reduction was noticed in the number of overtime hours, production stoppages, quantity of scraps; the quantity of rejected products was reduced and the frequency of sick leaves lowered. At the same time the entire business process was accelerated, production quantities enlarged, sales plans an field sales increased.Cooperation between various organisational units was improved interactive communication as well, especially on higher management levels. The responsibility and sensitivity for interactive information needs and systemic insight into business processes was largely enhanced.Hierarchic levels came close together, the company turned out to be more dynamic, innovative, high quality and competitive. In rough lines this paper presents methods used by the consulcants and their associates and the success they have achieved using them.Basically, we may speak of organisational innovation with new combination of the already known techniques.
