Abstract: | An analysis of the containment case production process at a GE aircraft engine plant revealed that non-bottleneck, multiuse resource was responsible for production delays. A simple queuing model showed that increasing its capacity would be a cost-effective approach to capacity management. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the symbolic relationship between traditional and analytical approaches to the analysis of production processes. |
