Abstract:Most organizations realize that competitive advantages reside with the ability to satisfy the customer. Consequently, TQM is recognized for its power in establishing superiority in dealing direct with customers/consumers through service aspects. The applicability of TQM concepts to healthcare provision cannot be disputed. What remains to be challenged, however, is the translation of the principles to remain meaningful and effective in a non-profit making context such as healthcare provision. This article discusses the applicability of TQM concepts to healthcare both in the USA and UK contexts.
