Abstract:There's no discounting the importance of competitive intelligence. In the past decade, the process of gathering information on competitors has risen from an obscure function in a few companies to a widely practiced and highly respected arm of management. It is a powerful means for generating and exploiting a competitive advantage, and the Internet is playing an increasingly important role as an end to that means. Business intelligence is about using public information sources to gather insights.
