Abstract: | Benchmarking is too often a tedious search for facts and figures or a round or unstructured industrial tourism. The author describes a civil service project that gave personnel and training professionals insights into their own processes and suggested ideas for improvement. Benchmarking as a method of achieving business improvement is not new. The Xerox Corporation led the way in the early 1980s when it used benchmarking to recapture lost market share for copier machines. |
