Abstract: | Multinational corporations are more of agents of imperialism than development because most of their activities have been self-centred. Little benefits only have accrued to the economy of the developing countries out of the trade proceeds of multinational corporations. One of the reasons for the political and economic crisis facing third world countries is that various operations of multinational corporations have engendered political, social and economic disarticulation. The debt burden, cooruption and poverty do not portray multinational corporations as agents of economic development. There would have been some fundamental improvement in the standard of living of third world countries, if the activities of multinational corporations had not been imperialistic. |
