Abstract: | Push was last year's most prominent Internet buzz-word. Inspired by the PointCast Network's success in attracting a million users in just a few short months, dozens of companies launched products, forged "content" partnerships, and then, in many cases, quietly disappeared. In the wake of all this push-centered idea of proactively sending information to subscribers through an Internet-based "channel" has taken root, and, while the future of large- scale, commercialised push remains uncertain, tools for channelizing content have become available to just about anyone with a Web site. |
