| Abstract: | In the first two months of 1998, the composite index reflecting the trend of China's macro economic boom continued to fall after a rise and declined again in March. It shows that China's macro economic boom in the first quarter presented a contracting trend. The growth rate of GDP is estimated at 7.5% or so. The results of monitoring some major indicators show the following: The growth rate of industrial production in Feb. is continuing to fall again, to some extent; the increase range of market price is narrowing; the financial state is basically stable and the growth of tax revenue remains normal; investment in fixed assets grows moderately but its growth rate continues to fall and the growth rate of import and export trade has been raised greatly. |
