Abstract:The central characteristics of the banking crises in developing countries in 1990s are their high extents in width and depth. The main reasons for the width and depth are: the situations of the economies become worse and worse, inappropriate uses of monetary policies, the financial and tax regulations detrimental to banks and hasty financial liberation. They have great impacts on economic growth and efficiency, effective implementation of monetary policies, balance of payments and exchange stability. For the reasons, we should consider their possible impacts on banking system when we are adopting macro-economic policies and provide banks with necessary financial support for solutions to their crises.
