Abstract:There were many factors accounting for the landslide of Sino-Japanese trade and the Japanese investment in China in 1998. Mostly, affected by Asian financial crisis, China economic growth slowed down and Japan experienced very bad economy. After joining WTO, China is ought to commit itself to all the liabilities to opening market and improving conditions for market access. Japan will be the biggest beneficiary. And, China has to expand export to Japan to avoid huge excess of import. Japan's motive of investment will also turn from buy-back to sales in Chinese market. In addition, China's entering WTO will surely further intensify the competition between Japan and USA and European countries in Chinese market.
