Abstract: | The popularity of team-based management has increased the necessity for strong interpersonal skills for members of an organization. A key interpersonal attribute is political skill, i.e. the ability to get things done by understanding and working through others outside of formally prescribed organizational mechanisms. Political skill is a distinct type of social skill that is important for managerial success. It is argued that political skill ought to be considered in hiring and promotion decisions. |
