| Abstract: | The German economy has started slowly into the year 2001. Real GDP expanded at an annual rate of 1,4 percent in the first quarter, only marginally faster than in the previous half year. The reasons were twofold. First, worldwide economic slowdown reached Germany; real exports fell for the first time since 1998. Second, domestic demand was extraordinarily weak (original in German). |
