| Abstract: | There are very few studies on the Turkish IIT (intra- industry trade) pattern in particular. The objective of this paper is to make a comparison between Turkey's share of IIT with the European Union (EU) and Central Asian Turkic Republics (CATRs). This paper consists of four sections. The next section presents the indexes used for measuring IIT and the differences among them. In the third section, after presenting Turkey-European Union and Turkey-CATRs trade relations, the shares of IIT in Turkey's trade with the European Union and CATRs are measured for the years 1992-97. The study combines the application of the Grubel-Lloyd index (GL) of the whole 96 two-digit Turkish Chapter Code List industries and an adjusted measure for the trade imbalance employed by Acquino (1978). |
