Abstract:The subjects of this paper are personnel management and employee motivation. The author focuses on the role of the human resources management (HRM) in motivating employees. The paper considers the integration of specialization in HRM to allow employees to make independent decisions and answers the question how human resources managers should handle personnel- related problems. The paper also pays attention to the levels of human deficiency needs and to the importance of recognition and attention to employees. Bad managers lurk in many companies, creating hidden costs of low staff morale and demotivation. But there are ways to deal with them, states the author, and management accountants have a role to play in the solution.
