Abstract: | This article presents an opinion on the extent of the Russian predilection, on the state level, for drawing on the conflict potential in relations with the West as a resource for fostering national unity and a basis for construction of the state identity. It will address this problem through interpretive analysis of the key official texts on national security and foreign policy in the period 1993-2000. |
