Abstract:This paper discusses inventory control problems for a single perishable product with two types of customers, different selling prices different holding costs, and shortage and outdating cost. In inventory problems, it has been pointed out that the accurate estimation of shortage cost is difficult. It is not also easy to estimate outdating cost as a constant value. Therefore the authors consider perishable inventory problems to deal with the ambiguity. The model in this paper is a single-period horizon model and is a generalized model of Ishii in the sense that shortage and outdating costs are fuzzy numbers and holding costs are dependent upon the remaining lifetime of the product at the time of storage. Additionally, the research in this paper is also related to the author's research.
