| Abstract: | This paper makes a concrete proposal for the assessment of sustainable development strategies, placing the emphasis on the process factor. Based on the Bellagio Principles, a set of criteria is developed for the quantitative analysis of documents. This set of indicators, that aims to be practice-oriented and easy to use, focuses, for the time being, on the national level. On the one hand, it provides some information about the strengths and weaknesses of monitoring reports on sustainable development. On the other hand, it reveals, through the documents, to what extent sustainable development strategies actually take account of the principles of sustainable development. |
