Abstract:This paper examines the dimensions and status of business in Islam. Efforts have been made to see how far ethics and morality are expected to play a role in conducting the affairs of business in Islam. This is important for the following reasons: Islam is believed to be a misunderstood religion; The Islamic framework shapes the behavior of one-fifth of the world's total population (1.215 billion) including those who are in business; These people are in the majority in more than 50 countries, and some of these countries are in control of the world's energy resources; There appears to be an increasing push towards greater 'Islamization' by some countries like Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, and Iran; Recent events on American soil have brought the agenda of understanding the premises of this faith to the forefront.
