| Abstract: | Media specialists of the humanities and social sciences have integrated empirical evidence on technological, economic, social, political and cultural trends with models of explaining changing media as a prime interpreter of changing Europe. The contradictory tendencies of convergence and fragmentation are tied to the question of whether we are really moving into a new European information society. Included is the Human Development Index for Europe 1997-2001 (with EU member countries and EU accession and candidate countries). |
