Abstract:Far-flung teams can be remarkably productive, even outperforming groups whose members work side by side. But to make these (virtual) teams succeed, you have to follow new rules about how to manage them. The article presents that there are three rules needed for success. Rule 1: Exploit diversity in those who will be working on the project. Get the best people to fill the gaps in the companies expertise. Rule 2: Use technology to simulate reality. Find a system for communication that suits the group (email is not suggested as the best solution) Rule 3: Hold the team together through skills that keep the work group happy and productive.
