| Abstract: | Data Envelopment Analysis (or DEA) is used for evaluating the technical efficiency of museum (herefater as: msm./msms.) institutions. The approach enables to create a relative efficiency measure for each msm., which takes into account both the resources used by msms. and the results of their activities. Moreover this technique enables to overcome some of the difficulties found with applying more traditional indicators. An empirical analysis carried out on data from Italian municipal museums illustrates this application of the operational research model. |
