Abstract: | This article analyses how the determinants of worker turnover diverge between times of corporate expansion and decline. The results show that determinants such as performance and career progress reduce the danger of job separation in periods of downsizing for blue-collar workers, but do not significantly affect the white-collar workers. Career paths within the firm are in relation with a worker's turnover probability. The age of workers and the role of retirement and its relation to worker turnover is discussed. |
