Abstract: | This article explores the political impact of economic integration, or globalization, for the accountability of politicians and aims to discover how the relation between voters and theirs politicians is modified by this impact. Economic integration is defined by two types of interdependence. The results show that shock-interdependence, which allows yardstick comparison, increases political accountability while policy-interdependence on the other hand produces lack of responsibility. |
